Cyberbullying

Tyler Clementi and Dharun Ravi had everything to look forward to. They had been accepted into a beautiful and prestigious university. When they graduated, they would have high paying jobs in a career of their choice. But one choice, one event, changed everything. One would die, the other go to prison. After reading the article on Edmodo, write a brief paragraph, using a topic and concluding sentence, that tells us what lesson we might learn from this experience.

I think that it's really sad that some people are so mean. I think that Dharum Ravi deserves to go to jail, spying on his roommate is bad enough, but he showed it to some of his friends and possibly strangers! I think that cyberbullying and bullying in general is really serious. I think that maybe some people don't understand how bad it feels to be made fun of etc.

Tyler Clemente should have told someone that he was getting cyberbullied.MJ

The event was really sad. People shouldn't make fun of other people who make those mean comments. The roommates should have minded their own business and Tyler Clementi could have lived.

This article is very sad. I'm can't imagine how the family's of these poor guys must feel. I learned that you should never post things about other people online or in person. You never know how this can affect them or hurt them.

That was such a sad story. People just don't realize how they affect people!! I hope we all learn to not do stuff like this because it's really saddening, and destructive.

I think that this very sad. It was probably very devastating for Tyler Clementi's whole family, and they probably suffered a lot from his loss. If I were Ravi I would feel very depressed. Not only did he ruin his life, but he also ruined another persons life.
I think that it is not okay for people to not except gay people. They don't have to like it, but at least except people for who they are.

I think that this is a horrible event , that I hope doesn't ever happen again. It ruined the life of two people, and should not have even happened in the first place.
We can all learn from this. The lesson is to accept who people are, and not tease them about who they are. The reason Tyler Clementi committed suicide was because Dharun Ravi, his roommate, was teasing Tyler because he was gay. This never would have happened if Ravi had just accepted that Tyler was gay, and that it wasn't a reason to tease and bully him about. But he did, and both of their lives are now ruined.
I feel sorry that this every had to happen, and I hope that this doesn't happen again, and people can just accept each other for who they are.

This is a sad story of something that happens a lot. People need to be aware about cyber bullying, because millions of people are victims. Tyler Clementi was a social outcast. He was gay, and his dorm mate, Dharun Ravi, knew this and was planing to bully him about it. He tweeted to his friends and set up a camera in Tyler's room, Clementi was devastated when he found out. He was so depressed that he took his own life. Ravi is in jail for what he did and this incident still stings the hearts of Tyler's family. The lesson we can all learn from this is that cyber bullying is bad. it is serious, when you are online be careful, anything you say, can be used against you.

This is really creepy that someone would set up a web cam of this. I mean that's just a complete invasion of privacy.

I think that this article is very sad. I think that Tyler's roommate should stay out of his love life whether he is gay or not. Tyler's roommate was really the reason Tyler killed himself. The lesson learned here is to stay out of your friends or roommate's love life.

this is another example how cyberbullying took a life I think his friend should have accepted him the way he is instead of announcing it out to the world.Because now a life is gone and a family is in pain.

I think this is terrible. I feel so bad for Clementi, who committed suicide after room mates spied on him several times. Not only did he keep it to himself, but he invited a whole group of people to watch the video with him. He was watched two times. None of them were deserved. The first time he, he disabled his camera. The second time, his roommate Ravi got into his computer again. This made me mad because After Clementi disabled his camera the first time which was obviously a cue to tell them that this was private and he didn't want them watching him. Then they went on the camera again, just to watch him talking to some guy. I feel really bad for Clementi and i wish this never happened. Whoever did this should be more than punished. they pushed him to commit suicide

Cyber-bullying is not a joke and can destroy lives. Lives such as those of the two collage boys named Dharun Ravi and Tyler Clementi. Tyler was having a date with another man and Dharun tried to spy on him with a webcam. The webcam was eventually disabled, but not before Dharun invited all his friends to see in a kind of "party". Tyler eventually jumped of a bride and committed suicide. The lesson we can take away from this is don't make fun of your friends, you might think of it as a joke but they may take it very seriously. I read another article that had another perspective on the event.Dharun was a bit confused and nervous because Tyler kept bringing men that Dharun did not know to their living space.I still think that Dharun could have thought of a better way to investigate, but I can not completely blame him, because I do not know all the facts. Also it is really sad that Tyler killed himself, and I think that he should have sorted his problems out through a psychologist. Y.A

This is sad that a friend that is supposed to help him, just ruined and even took his life. He has no right to interfere his privacy. I learned from this article that it's important to leave your friend alone when it comes to privacy.

This is a sad story and shows that friends are not always helping. Tyler's friend just destroyed his and Tyler's life. He just went to his privacy and did the worst. I learned to choose good friends, and to be helpful, not destroying a life.

I could not believe how sad this story. You should never put a camera in someone else's space. This counts as cyber-bullying and the people who do this kind of stuff should go to jail. I hate any kind bullying so I hate cyberbullying. Why would someone do this.
